The Medical Research Council Centre for Medical Mycology (MRC CMM) Centre for Medical Mycology (MRC CMM) is recruiting for a Postdoctoral Research Associate/Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join the newly-funded MRC Programme Fungi-CARE (Combinations Against Resistance Emergence). This programme, led by Professor Elaine Bignell, brings together an alliance of three world leading centres (MRC CMM, St George’s, University of London’s University Hospital and the University of Liverpool) to tackle antifungal resistance via a consortium comprised of molecular mycologists, clinicians and pharmacologists.

Focusing on five key Candida pathogens, the overarching goals of this programme are to:

  • Rationally select and develop optimised antifungal drug regimens, including combination therapies, that are effective and suppress the emergence of clinical antifungal drug resistance.
  • Establish pre-clinical and early clinical rationale and know-how for future phase II/ III trials of optimised antifungal therapy for candidemia.

What we’re looking for:
For Postdoctoral Research Associates: A PhD (or near completion) in a relevant field with a strong foundation in research methods and techniques.
For Postdoctoral Research Fellows: Highly experienced medical mycologists with expertise in molecular genetic analysis, antifungal resistance, and fungal infection models.

Closing date: 12 February 2025
