    Thank you for your interest in applying for CMM International Fund and FAPESP-funded PhD scholarships/Postdoctoral fellowships.

    This page allows you to submit your application directly via the portal located at the bottom of the page. Additional information can be found in our MRC CMM and CMM LATAM webpages.

    Please refer to the Application Guidelines and template documents (download them at Funding Calls | MRC Centre for Medical Mycology | University of Exeter) prior to completing this form.

    All of the above documents must be submitted in order for your application to be considered. Please note that you may also be asked to copy certain information from the application form directly into the online submission form. Kindly ensure that all supporting documents are uploaded along with your application. Applications that are not received in full may be rejected.

    The deadline for submission is 9th February 2026 at 23:59 (UK time). Applications received after this deadline will not be considered.

    Please note, this funding call is not part of FAILSAFE. They are two different “sister” projects with different aims funded by different pots. However, these are interlinked, working together and both have branched out from the MRC CMM at the University of Exeter.

    Project Specific Risk Assessment

    As a condition of funding, you are required to provide the following information to assist in the due diligence process. You may want to seek support from your Institution’s legal or compliance teams for this part:
    As part of your Project, will you purchase any assets and/or purchase or licence any intellectual property, in the areas listed here: Synthetic Biology, Advanced Materials, Advanced Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, Civil Nuclear, Communications Infrastructure, Computing Hardware, Critical Suppliers to Government, Cryptographic Authentication, Data Infrastructure, Defence, Energy, Military and Dual-Use, Quantum Technologies, Satellite and Space Technologies, Suppliers to the Emergency Services, Maritime, Aviation and Air Traffic Control Infrastructure ?
    During the project, will any data, goods, materials, software or technology be exported or imported from the country in which you are based to co-applicants, industry partners and/or collaborators in a different country?
    Do you have in place any import and/or export licences required?
    Will any of the material transferred be hazardous?
    Will any of the material be biological material?
    Will any of the data, goods, materials, software or technology transferred have any military or ‘dual usage’?
    Do you suspect that any of the data, goods, materials, software or technology transferred will have an end-use as a Weapon of Mass Destruction?
    Will any individuals be travelling internationally to the country in which you are based, specifically for the purposes of the project?
    Will you be collecting, storing, sharing or otherwise processing any personal data as part of the Project?

    Due Diligence

    The due diligence questionnaire (“DD Questionnaire”) is NOT required to be completed or submitted by the Lead Applicant where the Lead Applicant is a government body in the UK, EU, USA or Canada, OR a higher education institution located in the UK, EU, USA or Canada. All other Lead Applicants must complete and submit the DD Questionnaire as part of the application process. The fully completed DD Questionnaire (addendum B to the application form) should be submitted by the Lead Applicant together with the Application Form and all required supporting documentation via the online submission process by the deadline for submitting applications. If applicable, to fill in this part please use the details you have gathered in your completed and signed ‘Lead Applicant’s Due Diligence Form’.
    Are you a Lead applicant from one of the following: a government body in the UK, EU, USA or Canada, OR a higher education institution located in the UK, EU, USA or Canada?
    What type of organisation is the lead applicant entity?
    Is the Lead Applicant Entity state-owned or state-run?
    What type of governance structure is in place at the Lead Applicant Entity?
    Is the Lead Applicant Entity affiliated to any other organisation (e.g. parent companies or subsidiaries; entities sharing the same governance structure; related government entities)
    Is the Lead Applicant Entity located in a country sanctioned by the UK?
    Is the Lead Applicant Entity located in a country subject to UK arms embargo, trade sanctions or other trade restrictions?
    Did you complete all the sanction list checks as stipulated in the Due Diligence form? This includes the UK, EU, US and UN sanction list
    Did the Lead Applicant Entity appear on any of the Sanction List?
    Did you provide all the relevant policy details as stipulated in the Due Diligence form, including the links or copies to the policies?
    Have there been any allegations of fraud or misuse of research funds made against the Lead Applicant Entity in the last 3 years?
    Have there been any allegations of research misconduct made against any member of staff at the Lead Applicant Institution in the last 3 years?
    Is the Lead Applicant Entity currently involved in any active or pending legal proceedings?
    Did you complete the section on grant administration and financial arrangements in full?
    Are there any risks that the Lead Applicant is aware of that may prevent the Lead Applicant from being able to deliver the objectives of the Project?
    Has the Due Diligence form been signed by the lead applicant?
    Has the Due Diligence form been signed by the authorised signatory of the lead applicant entity?
