FAILSAFE Fungal Antimicrobial Resistance Innovations for Low & Middle Income Countries: Solutions & Access For Everyone

Call for Applications – Round 1

New Funding Opportunity to develop products or solutions tackling Antifungal Drug Resistance

The FAILSAFE project is aiming to deliver a programme of global research and development (R&D), that will reduce the burden of anti-fungal drug resistance (AFR) and fungal disease in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). This new collaborative project is being delivered by the Medical Research Council Centre for Medical Mycology (MRC CMM) at the University of Exeter and is funded by the Global AMR Innovation Fund (GAMRIF) through the Department for Health and Social Care (DHSC).

In this worldwide call for applications, three levels of funding are being made available to support innovative R&D mitigating the consequences of AFR:

The final decision on the number of projects to be supported in each round will be made on the quality of the proposals received and how closely they are aligned with themes of the programme (see below). A broad range of projects will be selected to ensure as many themes as possible are addressed. All projects will need to consider access and affordability in LMIC settings, how their research will be developed and how it will be employed at the point of care. All projects must be of direct benefit to LMICs and involve collaborations from at least two institutions.

Research Themes

Proposals should align with at least one of the following themes:
