Eight-Week Summer Scholarships for Medical Students in Medical Mycology

We offer two annual travel scholarships to top medical students to stimulate interest in medical mycology. Recipients spend 8 weeks conducting research at the MRC Centre in Exeter or another leading institution, gaining hands-on laboratory experience, exposure to study design, and data analysis. No prior expertise is required. The program builds strategic links between institutions and prepares students for Clinical Training Fellowships and PhDs. Participants present their findings at the Annual Academic Careers Evening.

Eligibility:
Medical students with a free 8-week summer period and an interest in research.

Funding:
Covers travel, accommodation and subsistence.

Application Process:
Submit a CV and a 200-word personal statement outlining what makes you the right candidate and the value of such a scheme to your future academic career by 28th February 2026 to mrccmm@exeter.ac.uk. Shortlisting and interviews will follow shortly.
